Kate Beckinsale Shoots New TV Series In Cape Town

English Actress, Kate Beckinsale, who you might know from movies like The Underworld, Click, Van Helsing, Pearl Harbour, and the critically acclaimed Love and Friendship was seen on the streets of Cape Town shooting scenes for the new series The Widow.

The London born actress plays the lead role of Georgia Wells, in the drama series The Widow based on The Missing written by brothers Harry and Jack Williams. The William brothers will be producing the 8-episode series along with Amazon and ITV and it will be Kate’s first time playing the lead in a television series.

“I’m delighted to announce Kate Beckinsale’s casting in The Widow,” Polly Hill, ITV’s Head of Drama, said “She is perfect for the role of Georgia in what is, as always, brilliant, compelling and surprising storytelling from Harry and Jack Williams. We’re very pleased to have secured the series which is an ITV original commission and co-production with Amazon.”

The Widow follows the grief-stricken Georgia Wells, who is haunted by her past when she sees her “late” husband alive on TV and sets out to uncover the truth about her husbands supposed death due to a plane crash accident while he was working in the Congo. The “Gut-wrenching thriller” takes us with her as she stops at nothing to find out the secrets of her past.

“The Widow is our most ambitious and cinematic piece to date and we can’t wait to bring the dark heart of the Congolese jungle to the screen.” Harry and Jack Williams said.

The series will be shot during 2018 with scenes in Cape Town, Wales, and the Netherlands and is set out to air in over 200 countries, but the release date has not yet been announced.
