Old Pics – Lion’s Head Through The Years

Lion’s Head, sitting proudly next to Table Mountain, was originally named by the Dutch as “Leeuwen Kop” and Signal Hill was known as “Leeuwen Staart”  or translated Lion’s Tail because of how their shape resembles a crouching lion.

Over the years Lion’s Head has become a big tourist attraction with over 200 000 people climbing up every year to experience the jaw-dropping views at the top.

We thought you would enjoy seeing how this iconic mountain looked throughout the years, so we’ve collected some old photographs for your viewing pleasure!
