“Day Zero” is fast approaching. The Mother City’s taps are predicted to run dry by the 12th of April (That’s in less than 3 months). Unless something drastic happens Cape Town might just become the very first city to ever run out of water.

In an effort to find more drinking water, Cape Town has started drilling in a major aquifer under the city.
“It is becoming very critical now. It is becoming a crisis situation for us now.” Said De Lille in the video below.

Patricia de Lille mentioned that in the hot summer weather we’re losing 1.5% of our dams every week and that for the first time ever our dam levels are below 30%.
Capetonians all need to work together in order to save as much water as possible so that we can all avoid the dreaded “day zero”.
Residents are urged to try and reduce their water consumption from the previous target 87 litres to 50 liters and it is advised that borehole water not be used for irrigation in order to save precious ground water.
