If delicious, value-for-money burgers are what you’re after, Jerry’s Burger Bar is the place to be. This popular franchise has five branches in Cape Town (Observatory, Willowbridge, Blouberg, Sea Point and the CBD) and one in Illovo, Johannesburg (South Africa). We opted for Blouberg and were not disappointed. For more reviews visit my blog.
First impressions
The manager was friendly, and the vibe at Jerry’s was casual, fun, upbeat yet relaxed. The rustic decor added to the laid-back feel.
What was the food like?
The menu has a variety of order-and-share options. We chose single portions of the corn dogs (baby franks dipped in Mexican corn butter and served with tomato sauce and mustard) and poppers (think onion, jalapeño, cheese) and enjoyed them as starters.
For mains we all chose burgers. It’s a burger bar, after all! The Jack D, Philly Steak, Lucy’s Wrath and Whoop Whoop (vegetarian) all hit the spot. The meat was soft and succulent and the toppings (such as caramelised onions, bacon and mushrooms) amplified the already-delicious flavours. We could choose between potato and sweet potato fries.

What was the service like?
Our waitress Riekie was clued-up and efficient, and we did not feel rushed, even though our friends arrived later than planned.
What about thirsty patrons?
For those who enjoy a tipple, they have a wide variety of drinks including craft beers on offer.
Is there a down-side?
If I had to point out one negative, it would be that the frosty winter air hit me like water out of a cold shower every time the smokers opened the door to the deck. Fortunately we were able to move before mains.
Value for money?
Definitely! Burger prices range between R80 and R119. And have I mentioned that they’re absolutely delicious?
I’d definitely return to Jerry’s for the most delicious burgers in Cape Town, topped with friendly service and an awesome atmosphere.
