1. Stacked Diner

This trendy hidden gem serves cheap, delicious food without sacrificing quality or freshness. Stacked diner only uses 100% free range grass fed beef, free range chicken and eggs, farm fresh ingredients, and their frankfurters used in their hot dogs are preservative free.

For R47 you get a free-range beef or chicken burger (R45 for veg/vegan burger) with unlimited picks of their free toppings and sauces. Or rather go for the pure pork dog for only R39. The hand-cut and twice fried chips or crispy onion rings are only R16 per serving. They also serve all day breakfasts that include affordable options like Classic Buttermilk Flapjacks (R38 for 3), Egg & Bacon roll( R26), Mushroom Melt (R24). Their homemade frozen minty lemonade is to die for and only R22.

2. Eastern Bazaar

Get transported to the East when you visit the Eastern Food Bazaar. There they serve everything from Falafels and hummus to Bunny Chows overflowing with rich curry. If value for money is what you want this is the place to be.

They are definitely not stingy with their portions and meals are super cheap with most dishes costing around R40. You can get a Chicken Shwarma with pita, chips & salad ( R50) or Falafels with hummus, salad, and pita bread (R35) or Chicken Bunny chow served with rice and salad (R50) And to end it off you can even get a scoop of ice cream for only R15. You won’t leave hungry.

3. Kalky’s Fish & Chips

Get the good old favorite Fish & Chips at Kalky’s in Kalk Bay where they make the freshest seafood and serve generous portion sizes. Get the classic Hake/Snoek and chips for R55 or if you’re dining in a group order the family platter which consists of 1 hake, 1 snoek, calamari, 6 rolls, 2 medium chips, and a 1l cold drink for R180. Narona has two Branches one in Gardens and one in Observatory serving great pizza and pasta at even better prices. You can get a Large rosemary and garlic focaccia for only R40 or classic Medium Hawaiian pizza for R65. A cheese and tomato tramezzini served with salad will only cost you R55 or a Napolitana pasta with either tagliatelle or penne for R60.

For a hearty and delicious breakfast that is easy on the pocket go the Flatteur Cafe where you can grab a Traditional breakfast of 2 eggs, mushrooms, bacon, beef sausage, chips, toast, and fried tomato for only R65 or Hearty oats with fruit and honey for R35.
