Kleinmond’s Harbour Street

Kleinmond means “small mouth” in Afrikaans. The area stayed mostly uninhabited and this meant that wildlife was plentiful. The first sign of community started in the mid-1800s when a small fishing community took residence in the small fishing harbour. The town’s development and infrastructure took off in 1966, when tar roads and various municipal buildings were built.
