The well know and frequently visited Clay Cafe suffered a devastating fire to their barn and green room. Fortunately, no lives were lost and they can continue to operate. Let’s support them during this time and send them words of encouragement as they rebuild these areas. They posted some pictures and a public statement to their Facebook Page which you can see and read below.
Their Facebook post reads as follow
“It is with great sadness that we have to inform all of our clients that The Clay Cafe lost its barn (Collections area) and green room ( private seating space) last night in a tragic fire.
All precious items have been sadly destroyed. We cannot express the sadness of seeing the thousands of items shattered on the floor. The fire was contained and the main seating area, playground, outside seating and restaurant was *not affected at all. The family who resides in the property and their home was saved and everyone is safe.
We are very lucky that we can continue trading with our full compliment of staff. We thank you for your support over this hard time for us. The Clay Cafe is open to reservations only today. We will be informing all clients next week how we will proceed with items that were lost.
Thank you for the support of our neighbors and Hout Bay community who came to help last night. Your efforts and kindness doesn’t go unnoticed.
Today we sit with a heavy heart, but are sure that we will come back even stronger
The Clay Cafe family x”
