Some things to remember when spending a day out in the sun in Cape Town this summer:
- If you’re planning on going to the beach, go in the early morning or late afternoon. Stay out of the sun between 12 pm and 3 pm when the sun is at it’s hottest.
- Always wear sun protection. A hat and good sunblock is a must.
- Remember to re-apply sunblock after swimming and at least every hour (depending on the SPF you might need to re-apply more or less often)
- Stay hydrated. Always have a bottle of water with you. Coconut water is a good natural electrolyte replacer that will prevent dehydration.
- Eat water-rich foods like juicy fruit, fresh salads, and smoothies. This will keep your core body temperature cool while hydrating you.
- Avoid wearing dark colored clothes that heat up in the sun. Opt for light fabrics that will keep you cool.
Things To Do In Cape Town When The Temperature Rises:
1. Go Ice Skating
Stay cool on the ice while doing something fun and active. There is an ice skating rink called The Ice Station at the Grandwest Casino and is suitable for all ages.
