In Cape Town, there are surf spots for every level or type of surfer out there. Whether you are a pro surfer or a total noob, there is an abundance of spots for you to find your ideal one.
Cape Town is one of the best surfing destinations in the world. The water on this side is a little cold, but it heats up a little in the summer months, but the waves are just as good, if not better in the winter time.

A perfect spot for those just starting out or trying to get back into the swing of things. Located in False Bay this spot is a popular surfing spot with its gentle waves. There are also places where you can rent boards and wetsuits and where you can take a few lessons. After your surfing session, there are also numerous coffee shops where you can replenish yourself.
This spot is suitable for surfers of all skill levels and sits between Melkbos and Bloubergstrand. The waves are said to be at it’s best when a east to south-east wind is blowing. There’s a mall on the beach where you can grab a coffee or snack at one of the restaurants or if you’re just starting out, you can rent a board and wetsuit.
The cold water of Llandudno is perfect for cooling off in the hot summer months. This spot is very popular meaning it could get a bit crowded when the waves are good. Best to leave this spot to the advanced surfer as these waves can get pretty gnarly.
This spot is not for the faint of heart, it is usually ridden by tow-surfers and is best suited for the more experienced surfer as the waves can get up to 60ft. Dungeons is located just off the Sentinel off Hout Bay.
A popular surfing beach near Kommetjie with both left and right wave breaks. This spot is suitable for intermediate to advanced level surfers.
This spot in Mouille Point is mostly for advanced surfers that know their stuff. Surfers crowd together waiting for the perfect time for the short, sharp take off leaving you with little time to paddle for into the wave and no room for error.
