5 Must Do’s at the V&A Waterfront
June 16, 2017SA Surfing – Where It All Began
June 19, 2017This is something you have to try – preferably in the summer! A train ride from Fish Hoek to Muizenberg on a Metrorail train. A morning of sun, fun and surfing! Muizenberg, or Muizies as it is affectionately known by locals, is THE best place in Cape Town to go surfing. Heck, some people consider it the birthplace of surfing in South Africa. There is a long, white beach stretching over 20km from around False Bay to the Strand. And if you make it out alive – just kidding! Muizenberg might be next to False Bay, known for its population of White Sharks, but it has a shark watch service warning surfers of the proximity of the sharks.
After getting your feet wet, you can take a hike up Elsie’s Peak. From the top, you can have amazing views of Muizenberg, Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek and Simon’s Town. Make sure you take some water with if it is a middle-of-summer hike. Or make sure to visit one of the many awesome spots nearby for something to cool you down and watch the sun setting over the ocean.
