The Ultimate Guide To Cape Town’s Hiking Trails

Cape Town has us spoilt for choice when it comes to amazing hiking trails. There is something for everyone. Whether you want to take a relaxing stroll with your kids, push your limits with a trail run up a mountain, or hike to a picnic spot with a gorgeous view, there is sure to be something to suit your mood.

We have compiled a list of some of our favorite hiking trails Cape Town has to offer.

But before you head out, here are some basic safety guidelines:

a) Hike with a friend, or better yet, a group. Never hike alone.

b) Pack enough water and food with you, especially on long hikes.

c) Wear sun protection. Sunblock and a cap are essential.

d) Make sure you know the route before heading out. Bring a trail map with you.

e) Wear proper non-slip footwear when hiking up mountains and rocky trails.

f) Choose a trail that suits your fitness level.

g) Pack a torch, with spare batteries and globes, and a basic first aid kit.

h) Pack your essentials in a backpack to keep your hands free.
